Erica Desai, 19, a student at St John’s University, is missing. Desai’s sister, Seena Desai, and her mother, will travel from North Carolina to New York to assist in the search.

Erica Desai was last seen when her cousin drove her back to her dorm on Jan 20. Detectives told the Desai relatives they have surveillance tapes of a man using Desai’s ATM card.

Erica Desai’s photo has been released here at the link. Her school said Erica Desai was suspended after she used the credit card of her roommate. The room mate refused to take action to pursue the matter but the school took action and suspended Desai. Desai’s family said they were unaware of her problems. Erica Desai had posted messages about wanting to run away.

One day after Desai was reported missing, a black man and ethnic Indian woman were seen using Erica Desai’s ATM card at a machine.

Erica Desai contacted police from a pay phone in Coney Island, of New York. Desai said she met a man and ran away with him. Desai said she did not want to tell her family of her problems at school.
