Eric Wood, 24, a teacher, was arrested after a missing teenaged girl, 17, was found hiding in his closet. Eric Wood had told police at his Cicago home that he was unaware where the girl was after they questioned him. Eric Wood allowed police to search his home. After police discovered the girl, Eric Wood was arrested and charged with obstructing justice.

Eric Wood teaches at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Waukegan, Illinois, Chicago. The girl’s family had filed a missing person report on Nov. 8. The girl’s brother said his sister and Eric Wood met at a car show. The girl studies at Zion-Benton High School. The brother complained to the police who then told him they could do nothing if the relationship was not sexual. Police did contact Eric Wood and told him to stop seeing the girl.

Eric Wood is due to appear at the Lake County Circuit Court on Dec. 9.
