Eric McLean gets reduced charges
Eric McLean, whose case was reported earlier on this site, was convicted of a lesser crime. Eric McLean, 33, confessed to shooting Sean Powell, 18, on March 10, 2007.
McLean admitted being in love with his wife, Erin, and could not stand up to the teenager. Eric McLean alleged that Sean Powell lunged at him while he was holding the rifle to scare Powell. The gun went off accidentally, said McLean. The jury took two days to convict Eric McLean of reckless homicide. This charge normally carries 2 – 4 years jail time. McLean’s sentencing will be announced on Nov. 7.

Eric McLean, 33, was charged in 2007 for killing Sean Powell, 18. The case goes to trial and jury selection starts on Wed.
Erin McLean, the wife of Eric McLean, was alleged to be having an affair with Sean Powell. Eric McLean said he tried to resolve the issue by talking to Erin and Sean Powell. Eric McLean said he could not leave his wife after he discovered her affair because he loved her.
One day, things came to a road with no return when Eric McLean returned home to find the teen, Sean Powell inside his house. McLean asked Powell to leave but he refused. McLean dialed 911 for police assistance to report an intruder in his house. Powell appeared to back away but minutes later, Eric McLean had shot him fatally in the head. Erin McLean called 911 to report that her husband killed someone. Eric McLean fled his home in his truck, Police found him walking along the railway tracks some 6 miles where he abandoned his truck.
Sean Powell’s adoptive mother, Scarlett Powell, blamed Erin McLean, the adult, for manipulating Sean. Erin McLean and Eric McLean were divorced in Feb.

This perp’s gonna sizzle, and rightly so. Not only for his crime, but for his disease … running mouth syndrome. He shuts up and they get 2nd degree, max. But *no* he’s just gotta open his mouth and suddenly it’s 1st degree. This guy falls under the category ‘Too Stupid To Live’. Guess that’s not too unusual for either TN or killers, but there ya go

He did the Christian thing throughout, and exploded only when she threatened to take his kids. The girls has obvious mental issues, and the dead boyfriend ran his mouth too much. I’m happy he got the kids back, after hearing how she left them outside in 8 degree weather while she had sex with the boyfriend. The shame is he didn’t shoot both.
