Ellen DeGeneres, the host of the Ellen DeGeneres Show, had a wedding in August 2008 after California allowed same sex marriages. However, after the latest voting, the fate of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s marriage is hanging in mid-air. Besides the DeGeneres-Rossi wedding, there are 18000 same sex marriages, whose fates will be decided on by California soon.

California’s State Attorney General said that those 18,000 marriages will remain valid. However, there may be legal challenges. Same sex marriages may be annulled if the advocates of Yes to Prop 8 fight for the legal provision.

Those not in favor of same sex marriages voted yes to Proposition 8 to ban same sex marriages.
Those in favor of same sex marriages voted no to Prop 8.
