I watched the show the longest night,Some of the things that I seen in the movie doesn’t add up to some of the things that I read. I understand that she wants to protect her ID, but it seems that she doesn’t want to say what really happened during her imprisonment. Everyone thinks that there was someone helping him she would know why isn’t she saying if there was. Why were they malnurished if he was giving them food and she was cooking? Did she ever try the door to see if it was unlocked ever? The documentary left out alot of things that could of been answered by her. She was never found because of nobody checking into her disappearance,I would hope she would want to tell the world about what happened, hoping that her story could keep this from happening to another girl. I know that if my story could keep this from happening to just one person I would do it and I did do it. She isn’t the first person to be held like this unfortunately there story didn’t keep it from happening to Elizabeth. My prayers are with the family and I hope the Lord will guide them.

Thanks for commenting. I guess there is a social stigma, either real or imagined. Incest, rape, children born from incest etc are very serious issues. No matter how accepting some people are, there are others who will harm the young Fritzls.

The diet was unbalanced, or lacking in the full pyramid of food types. Money was an issue with Josef Fritzl as he spent on his holidays but was calculative on bills like his weekly expenditures to the hookers.

I completely agree with keeping the identiy private it is for the safety of her and the kids. I hope that they do make another documentary that will give more information to the questions that most people have about this situation, so that everyone can have more of an understanding how this happened and why. It is terrible for a father to even have the thought of doing this to his own child and how her mother was never suspicios about this. I think most people blame Elizabeths mother more than anybody. Unless we are in that situation nobody would never know what we would do. My heart goes out to Elizabeth

Here is a comment that I would like to make
about Josef Fritzl and his wife Rosemarie …
Clearly that “person” (and one has to stretch the
definition of the word “person” in order to apply
it to that creature) known to the world as Josef
Fritzl was / is the DEVIL-INCARNATE —- AND
he should burn in h*ll for all of eternity for his evil.
In addition, it also needs to be stated that no person
on earth should allow themselves be fooled for
even one moment by the lies of “I didn’t know”
that are currently being claimed by that lying
and equally evil wife of this evil DEVIL!!!
That vile, evil, perverted, disgusting, devil
b**tch of a wife of that MONSTER KNEW!!

literally no excuse whatsoever to have not

Keller –she has NO EXCUSE at all to not have
known (or at least ’suspected’) something strange
and conspiratorial was going on regarding her
daughter’s whereabouts and situation and that the
husband’s stories were just far too incredulous
and absolutely made no sense in the least bit!!!
After all — think about it — daughter runs away as a
very young teen; daughter mysteriously disappears
at the age of 18 (an age when she can both make
her own decisions and choose to get away from
her father and even bring charges against him); the
(convicted-rapist/arsonist) father gets a letter from
daughter 1 month after her disappearance which
ridiculously claims she has joined a cult and does
not want to have any contact with the family – yet
amazingly then later chooses (for 3 years in a row)
to simply leave 3 of her newborn babies on the
doorstep of very home that she tried to run away
from at least 2 X’s before and is “allegedly thought”
to have finally left in order to join some sort of
“phantom” cult (a “cult” which, unlike every other
cult, just somehow, seemingly has no desire to try
to indoctrinate the youth from birth, but rather it
simply allows it’s members to select a home –one
which in fact, is both not a part of the cult AND is
the very home from which the member ran in order
to join the cult —to raise their babies and kids of
the cult members) –ALL THE WHILE – the father
forbids ANYONE to ever for ANY REASON dare to
go ANYWHERE NEAR the mysterious basement
(which he always keeps locked, disappears to for
hours and days on end; has ‘unseen’ bathroom
equipment installed; and has a cement-barricaded
door installed which both has a security-code and
which was so complicated it needed inspection
by local government authorities in order to install).
Just 2 years before the “discovery” of what this
monster (and his devil wife via her complicity of
silence) did to their poor child – another young girl,
and former kidnap victim, was also found in Austria.
It was discovered that the other young kidnap /
rape victim had disappeared 8 years earlier and
had been held in a basement / dungeon where
she had been repeatedly raped the entire time
by the individual who had also kidnapped her.
Now —- even if the public was expected to
simply throw all common sense to the wind
and accept this monster’s devil-wife’s excuse
that she “didn’t know”, say, in the beginning …
it still stands to reason that after hearing about
the case of the other young girl 2 years earlier
—– this creep’s equally creepy wife would
have said something to herself like, say …

Dear Reader,
Thank you for sharing. There were eye witnesses who said they saw Rosemarie helping to carry bags into the basement. It is not clear why the police did not pursue this matter. Rosemarie wanted Elizabeth’s children she reared to continue to call her mother instead of grandmother. These are two disturbing facts.

I agree that mother knew things and just closed her eyes to the weird goings on of this freak,josef. Alot of women close their eyes to things so they don’t have to change their life and leave him. She and her husband should be locked in there and rot forever.

In response to comment 6. – Liz’s suggestion that ‘all we can do is pray for Elizabeth and her family’ I beg to differ!
Firstly, as an atheist I do not have any belief in the effectiveness of prayer beyond the placebo effect.
Furthermore, there IS a great deal we can do, in particular the inhabitants of Austria, to change a culture in which they pride themselves in their ability to:-
1.Have a legal system in which all sentences can run concurrently and the maximum sentence this evil bastard will get is 15 years for his crimes unless found gulity of murder.
2.Bury their heads in the sand.
3.Mind their own business.
4.Respect eachother’s privacy no matter how bizarre someone’s behaviour or actions might be.
5.Ignore the possibility that a distressed teenager may have run away FOR A REASON – instead of just allowing her father to drag her back home.
6.Bury or prevent access to criminal records of a rapist who is then allowed to legally adopt and foster children.
6.Fail to suspect or adaquately interrogate a wife who regularly assisted her rapist husband with transporting a wheelbarrow full of food to a cellar for a family of five etc. etc.

If that deranged, arrogant, egomaniac is sentenced to 12-15 years and released after 7 then he will need more than a name change, facelift and further hair transplant to save himself from being ripped to pieces by an angry mob. It would be better for him to spend his remaining pathetic life locked up in solitary confinement, I only wish that prisoners like him were not treated with kid gloves, given access to computers, televisions, newspapers, games rooms. All he deserves is to be held in a dark, windowless room and fed slops, with no visitors and just a toilet, basin and uncomfortable canvas camp-bed. However he should have his door left unlocked occasionally along with the doors of the most violent criminals of wherever he ends up.

I second that definately. what do you say? So many things that I would like to see happen to this whathave you whatever you call it piece of. so as to somehow free Elizabeth’s soul from the hell it has been put through and recover to obtain some justice if it is even possible to have a clean breath of fresh air of freedom that she is really done, free, not being lied to etc. that it is over the nightmare instead of more stale air of excuse after lie after cover up after pathetic apathetic illtreatment of the wholen thing. The grotesque unfairness of the prosecution alone in all this is also so demonic and cowardly like said not questioning the mother. Austria must be the heart of darkness

I seriously hope Josef Friztl is brutally raped as many times as possible before he either dies or kills himself.
But most of all I hope that Elisabeth and her family can somehow now have a good, peaceful life.

I agree that Rosemarie is an accomplice. That b*tch is probably so jealous of her shapely, beautiful daughter who has “stolen” her husband’s heart. Some women are very mean when they become inferior or jealous. I grew up in a country where jealous women would splash poisonous chemical on their husbands’ lovers in hope to make them becoming deformed and destroyed. So, this b*tch who was called “fat” and “below standard” by her sick husband would take vengence on her beautiful daughter all along the unimaginable 24 years. She, too, should be r*t in jail, and fed all the ugliest foods possible! What kind of a b*tch for Elisabeth to have as a mother. I pray for the future of the Fritzls and I hope that the world would be kind to them all as they have suffered so much already.
