Hoffman Estates stabbing: Hoffman Estates stabbing victims identified

Updated April 17, 2009 – D’andre Howard, 20, was arrested and charged in the Hoffman Estates stabbing. Howard faces three charges of homicide, one charge of attempted homicide and one charge of unlawful restraint. Howard will appear in court Saturday, April 18, for a hearing on bond. Howard knew his victims in the home. Everyone in the home was related or knew one another.

Hoffman Estates, of Chicago, Illinois, had a multiple stabbing incident. Three died. Alan Engelhardt, 57, Marlene Gacek, 73, and Laura Engelhardt, 18, died.

A fourth stab victim in th Hoffman Estates stabbing remains hospitalized. A fifth person, also from the Hoffman Estates stabbing case, was released from hospital and questioned by police. Police have not filed charges.

Someone in the home in Hoffman Estates called police to report a stabbing. The Cook County coroner will do autopsies on Saturday, April 18.

    I go to Conant High School and once the news of Laura’s death came out the whole school was silent. Even if we did not know her it hurt the same. This was a tragic event that should have never happened. My heart goes out to the rest of the family in there time of mourning the 3 lost loved ones.
