Edwin R. Hall, 27, of Olathe, Kansas City, was sentenced to life in prison. Edwin R. Hall was sentenced for kidnapping, raping and killing Kelsey Smith, 18. Smith was killed on June 2, 2007.

Edwin R. Hall pleaded guilty to the charges to avoid the death penalty. He said sorry for his crimes. Kelsey Smith’s parents, three sisters and one younger brother were all in court. Kelsey Smith’s supporters wore blue T shirts with the slogan, “Kelsey’s Army.” Edwin Hall’s defense lawyer tried to get some sympathy for his client by saying that Hall was sexually abused in his childhood.
