Edward “Ted” Moore Kennedy (born February 22, 1932) is the senior United States Senator from Massachusetts. Ted Kennedy belonged to the Democratic Party. He has held office as a Senator since 1962. Ted Kennedy is the youngest brother of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy. Ted Kennedy is the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy.

Ted Kennedy preaches liberalism. On May 20, Ted Kennedy was diagnosed by his dctors as suffering from malignant brain tumor. The cancer was an advanced stage. Ted Kennedy is the youngest son of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy.

Ted Kennedy’s home is in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Ted Kennedy lives with his second wife, Victoria Reggie Kennedy. Victoria Reggie Kennedy is a Washington lawyer. Victoria Reggie Kennedy is the daughter of Louisiana judge Edmund Reggie. Victoria Reggie Kennedy has children from a previous marriage, Curran and Caroline. Victoria Reggie Kennedy is president and co-founder of Common Sense about Kids and Guns. This is an advocacy group that seeks to reduce gun deaths and injuries to children in the United States.

Ted Kennedy’s first marriage was to Virginia Joan Bennett. Ted Kennedy and Virginia Joan Bennett married on November 29, 1958, in Bronxville, New York. Ted Kennedy and Virginia Joan Bennett divorced in 1982. Their children together are

Kara Kennedy (born February 27, 1960),

Edward Kennedy Jr. (born September 26, 1961), and

Patrick Kennedy (born July 14, 1967).

Kara Kennedy married Michael Allen on September 9, 1990, in Centerville, Massachusetts.

Kara Kennedy and Michael Allen have two children:

Grace Kennedy Allen (born September 19, 1994, in Washington, D.C.), and

Max Greathouse Allen (born December 20, 1996, in Rockville, Maryland).

Kennedy has five grandchildren.

After John Kennedy and Robert Kennedy were assassinated in 1963 and 1968 respectively, Edward Kennedy (Ted Kennedy) became surrogate father for his brothers’ 13 children.

In 1960, John Kennedy was elected President of the United States and vacated his Massachusetts Senate seat.
In 1962, Ted Kennedy was elected to the Senate. In 1963, Ted Kennedy’s brother, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated.

In 1964, Kennedy was in a plane crash in which the pilot and one of Ted Kennedy’s aides were killed. Ted Kennedy was pulled from the wreckage by fellow senator Birch E. Bayh II (D-Ind.). Ted Kennedy spent weeks in a hospital recovering from a severe back injury, a punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding.

In 1968, his last surviving brother, Robert, was assassinated as he campaigned as a Democratic candidate for the the US presidential campaign. Ted Kennedy delivered a very emotional eulogy at Robert Kennedy’s funeral.

From 1968 - 1969, Ted Kennedy was a presidential candidate. When the Chappaquiddick accident happened, Mary Jo Kopechne was killed and the accident was unreported for 10 hours. In 1969, Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne, his campaign worker, were in his car when it went off the bridge. People have never forgotten nor stopped finger pointing at Ted Kennedy for Mary Jo Kopechne’s death in the Chappaquiddick accident.

On May 17, 2008, Edward “Ted” Kennedy was rushed by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital because he suffered a seizure. On board the chopper, he had another seizure. In hospital, he was warded for a battery of tests and underwent observation. On May 20, 2008, Ted Kennedy, 76, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was life threatening cancer. On May 21, Sen. Edward Kennedy was discharged from hospital. His doctors would inform of the future course of treatment for his illness soon.

Ted Kennedy emerged from hospital with a brave front. He was immaculately dressed and groomed.

The only indication of his recent illness was a plaster at the back of his head. This was the spot where his doctors performed a biopsy. Ted Kennedy’s biopsy results confirmed that he had glioma. Medical experts predict that Ted Kennedy might have less than a year. Dr. Keith Black, chairman of neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles said that without the option of using surgery to remove the glioma, the survival time line of the patient was less than a year. Some experts said it was between 6 months to 3 years for stage 4 cancer.

Edward Kennnedy’s doctors mentioned chemotherapy and radiation as possible courses of treatment. The malignant tumor can not be removed by an operation as the part of the brain is extremely sensitive as it coordinates the speech and memory.

When Edward Kennedy was discharged from hospital, his sons Teddy Jr (Edward Kennedy Jr.) and Patrick Kennedy, his daughter Kara Kennedy and his stepson Curran Raclin were present.

Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy had surgery to remove the malignant tumor. His brain surgeon said that Ted Kennedy would not suffer any side effects.

Post-surgery, Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy told his wife Vicki that he felt good; like a million bucks! Another surgeon speculated that Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy would need radiation and chemotherapy as farther treatment as tumors were likely to return after a month or so.

Five years ago, Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy’s daughter, kara Kennedy had lung cancer. The doctor at John Hopkins Hospital told Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy that Kara Kennedy’s cancer was inoperable. Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy did research and founc a doctor in Boston who operated on Kara Kennedy. She became cancer free after some treatment.

Kara Kennedy’s mother is Joan B. Kennedy, Edward Kennedy / Ted Kennedy’s former wife. Joan B. Kennedy said that Ted Kennedy really saved Kara Kennedy’s life as he did not give up on her.
