Edward Flynn & Jessica McBride: Flynn McBride affair

November 19 2009 – Jessica McBride’s husband, Paul Bucher, is divorcing his estranged wife. Bucher alleged that McBride and Flynn have carried on and said September 14 was one of their sexual meetings.

Bucher said Flynn should resign from his post because he has to be accountable for wrecking another family. Bucher wants to divorce McBride. Bucher wants to have their daughter, who is 4 years old, but will share her custody with McBride.

Bucher filed for divorce in September but after a few days, he withdrew his application. After he learned that McBride and Flynn met or tried to contact, he filed for divorce again. Bucher said he spoke directly with Flynn. Bucher indicated he was forced to act after coming to a decision.

Edward A Flynn, Milwaukee Police Chief, has acknowledged he had an affair but omitted mentioning the name of the woman. Flynn, married with a family, apologized for his conduct. Flynn, 61, said he accepted responsibility for his private behavior. Flynn allegedly had a relationship with Jessica McBride, a journalist who had interviewed him for an article.

Jessica McBride used to be a reporter but she is currently a lecturer in journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. McBride has refused to give her comment regarding her alleged affair with Flynn.

Some experts in journalism questioned McBride’s integrity as reporters are supposed to be unbiased when they write on their subjects. Since McBride was personally involved with her interviewee, some people have questioned her ethics.

Flynn said his affair was conducted during his private time. Flynn said it did not interfere with his public duties as the Police Chief. Flynn’s wife lives in Virginia and did not move with him when he accepted the job in Milwaukee. Flynn said he flew home to Virginia to apologize to his wife last week.

McBride is married to Paul Bucher, a lawyer. Bucher commented that the incident was a personal issue.
