Kay Barragan, 65, the wife of Napoleon Barragan, was found dead in their home in NY. Napoleon Barragan is the founder of 1-800-Mattress company. Mrs Barragan was found dead at the foot of a flight of stairs in the family home.

The couple’s son, Eduardo Barragan, has been charged with murdering his mother. Eduardo was said to have had a history of mental incapacity. Kay was alone when her body was found. Police have not disclosed the details surrounding her death.

Napoleon Barragan started his mattress business in 1976. He was named as one of Crain’s New York Business 100 Most Powerful Minority Businessmen.

Mr Barragan started his business with a personal loan from his wife in 1976. Kay Barragan lent her husband $2000 and that was the beginning of the turn of their lives. The Barragans have been married for more than 40 years.

The Barragans had some personal family tragedies. Their daughter Beatrice Barragan died of an illness of the heart in 2003. Their son, Luis Barragan, died in a swimming accident in 2006.

Kay Barragan’s surviving daughter, Kay Otilia Massell, of Santa Rosa, Calif., said her mother was a wonderful woman who was concerned for her family. Ms Massell sad her brother Eduardo suffered from schizophrenia.
