Ede Warner Jr, a debate coach at the University of Louisville, was arrested and charged with arson. Warner had 16 years of teaching behind him and was a nationally recognized debate coach. Warner taught pan-African studies. After his arrest, Warner withdrew himself from 2 summer courses he was supposed to teach at the University.

Warner had a fight with his wife, Motriyo Warner, on Sunday, July 5. During their quarrel, Warner allegedly threw Motriyo to the ground. Mortriyo and her child locked themselves in a bedroom while Warner trashed his home. Warner put Motriyo’s coat on the stove and ignited it.

On Monday, Motriyo Warner went to court to get a domestic violence petition. Mr Warner has to maintain 500 feet away from her. The Warners have a hearing on July 14.

For Sunday’s incident, Warner faced charges on domestic violence, endangerment, arson and assault.
