In Santa Barbara, Eddie Tassel made the news. Eddie Van Tassel, 28, was masked and armed with a handgun and American flag as he stood on a freeway overpass. Tassel held up traffic at Santa Barbara’s Highway 101. Traffic was held up in both directions for at least 3 miles back.

Police teams communicated to Tassel. After about 3 hours, Tassel agreed to surrender but he asked to attach a Barack Obama sign and flag to the overpass railing. Eddie Van Tassel laid his handgun on the ground and walked backwards towards the police officers.

Eddie Van Tassel, an ex service man, will receive a mental health test. Police said they are unsure of Tassel’s motives but it looked to be about an anti-war message.
