By Clarencia Cynrae on August 25th, 2008

Ebony Garcia, 21, was stabbed to death in her home in Queens, New York City. Before Ebony Garcia died, she had screamed and her neighbors heard her. They waited for 30 minutes before dialing the police.

Police arrived on Saturday, around 2 am, to see Ebony Garcia on the floor in her own pool of blood. Garcia had about 12 stab wounds. She was sent to hospital but Garcia died 2 hours later. One neighbor explained to the police that she ignored Garcia’s screams because she thought they were due to drinking. Garcia has taken out a restraining order against her boyfriend. I find it inexcusable for what the neighbors did to ignore the screaming and cry for help. I hope that the guilt of not calling the police that night haunts them. Our little baby girl would be alive today if the police had been called and they would have gotten to her sooner. Over a 1/2 hour of bleeding, over a 1/2 hour of her plea for help ignored. Shame on you. How could you mistaken a drunk making noise to “… help me please, I’ve been stabbed, help…!” If you had opened your doors; if you had turned on the lights, come out to the front of your homes to see what was happening, you could have witnessed this terrible tragedy. Instead, you choose to hide and let my beautiful niece die. She was beautiful, intelligent and vibrant, and you, you took that away from us.
Well baby girl, you no longer have to look back over your shoulder. You are safe now in the hands of God. You are protected now. If you call out for him, he will be right there in no time. God will not ignore your cries. R.I.P. baby girl. You will always be in our hearts; never to be forgotten. Your smile, your laughter as well as the vision your vision will always be our strength.
