The Earthquake Fish is so called because a sighting or catch means that an earthquake is coming in the region. The Earthquake Fish is the Regalecus glesne. It is known as the King of Herrings. Photos of this Earthquake Fish are found here.

On Oct. 8 in HUALIEN, Taiwan, a fisherman caught an earthquake fish. It could be a sign of an upcoming earthquake as the ocean bed may have tremors that forced the deep living fish near the surface.
