Dr Samuel Huntington, a writer and political scientist, has died. Samuel Huntington died at the age of 81. Samuel Huntington’s most famous book was “The Soldier and the State: the Theory and Politics of Civil-Military Relations,” which was published in 1957. Dr Huntington had controversial views but had a good grip on the direction of contemporary politics.

Dr Samuel Huntington died on Wed., Dec. 24. Huntington left behind his wife, Nancy Huntington, and two sons, Nicholas Huntington of Newton, Timothy Huntington of Boston; and four grandchildren. Burial services for Huntington are private. There will be a memorial service for Dr Samuel Huntington in the spring of 2009.
