Dorothy Dixon: Dixon’s assailants charged with murders
By Clarencia Cynrae on December 29th, 2008Dorothy L Dixon, 29, was tortured and died. Dixon’s body was found on Jan. 31, 2008. Dixon was shot at by a pellet gun, physically assaulted and scalded. Dixon was developmentally disabled and unable to get help. Dixon was 6 months pregnant when she died in Alton, Madison County.
Michelle Riley rented the house which Dixon and several others lived in. Riley cashed Dixon’s disability checks and paid rent on the house with the money. Riley has been charged with crimes in association to Dixon’s death.
Judy Elaine Woods lived in the basement of the house with Dixon. On the eve of Dixon’s death, Woods allegedly hit Dixon. Woods found Dixon had died the following day. Woods has been charged with murder.
In addition to Riley and Woods, there are 4 others being charged for criminal offences related to Dixon’s murder and the death of her unborn child. Dixon’s other assailants charged with murders are -
Riley’s daughter, LeShelle N. McBride, 16, is charged. Riley’s then-12-year-old son, whose name is not being released, is charged. The 12 year old is being handled as a juvenile.
Benny Lee Wilson, 17, of the Hillcrest residence where Dixon died, has been charged.
Michael Jerome Elliott, 19, of the 2200 block of Johnson Street in Alton, had a relationship with one of the residents of the home. Elliot was charged.
The trials will begin in 2009.
