By Clarencia Cynrae on March 18th, 2009Donna Jou, 19, a student at San Diego State, went missing on the night of June 23, 2007. Jou was seen attending a party at the home of John Steven Burgess, 36. Burgess is a former sex offender. Burgess failed to register as a sex offender and has been sentenced to 3 years in prison.
Burgess has been charged with the involuntary manslaughter of Donna Jou. Witnesses at Burgess’ party claimed Jou lost consciousness on a chair and died of an accidental drug overdose. Burgess had told investigators he rented a boat to take out to sea and dumped Jou’s body in the ocean.
The authorities were unable to recover Donna Jou’s body. Burgess will be charged based on the witnesses’ accounts and his admissions.

John Steven Burgess, 36, said he met Donna Jou, 19, through an internet ad. Burgess and Jou went to a party where Burgess gave Jou some heroin and cocaine. Donna Jou went missing in 2007 and her body has not been found.
Burgess claimed Jou died of an accidental drug overdose at the party. Burgess panicked and dumped her body in the sea. Burgess is a convicted sex offender. Burgess was recently released from prison after he completed a 3 year sentence for failing to register as a sex offender.
