Lu Young, Don Young’s wife, has died. Lu Young was the wife of the Alaskan Republican Don Young. Ms Lu Young passed away at the age of 67. Lu Young died at home during the weekend, between Saturday night and Sunday morning, August 1 -2.

Ms Lu Young was at the couple’s home in Great Falls, Virginia, when she died. Ms Young’s cause of death has yet to be determined. Young may have died of natural causes.

In 2003, Don Young had revealed his wife suffered a stroke. Mr Young refuted rumors he was retiring because of his wife’s health.

Lu Young worked as a bookkeeper in Fort Yukon, Athabascan, situated above the Arctic Circle. Don Young was a teacher at an elementary school when he met his wife. Mr and Mrs Young remained married for 46 years. They retained Fort Yukon as their regular home base in Alaska.

Ms Lu Young left behind her husband, her 2 daughters and 14 grandchildren.
