Don Henley & Charles DeVore: Henley sues DeVore over songs (videos)
By Therese Lisieux on April 18th, 2009Don Henley sued California State Assemblyman Charles DeVore. Henley claimed DeVore used two of his songs in his campaign against California Senator Barbara Boxer.
Henley claimed DeVore wrote lyrics over the Henley song called “The Boys of Summer”. DeVore allegedly criticized President Obama while promoting himself. DeVore posted the makeover song on YouTube and other social networking websites.
Henley asked YouTube to remove DeVore’s song on video but a tug of war ensued. DeVore insisted YouTube re-post his video. YouTube finally told Henley to file a lawsuit in order to have the offending video removed from YouTube.
Henley claimed DeVore stole a second song called “All She Wants To Do Is Dance”. Henley alleged DeVore created lyrics that attacked Sen. Barbara Boxer. Henley and his producer, Mike Campbell, are plaintiffs in the lawsuit.
Henley and Campbell are suing DeVore and his internet strategist Justin Hart. Campbell and Henley are asking for damages and a court order to have the stolen or pirated songs removed permanently.
