Dmitriy Guzner, of Verona, New Jersey, has been charged in L.A. Dmitriy Guzner was charged with hacking Church of Scientology Web sites earlier in 2008. Prosecutors said Guzner, 18, overloaded the Church of Scientology’s website with traffic so that its servers were crippled in Jan 2008.

With crippled servers, users could not access the Church’s website. This was called as a denial-of-service-attack. Guzner said he belonged to an Internet group named as “Anonymous.” This loosely based group leads protests against the Church of Scientology because the Church tried to silence its critic through lawsuits. Dmitriy Guzner has agreed to plead guilty to computer hacking. Guzner faces up to 10 years in a federal prison.
