Diahann Carroll, an actress, dramatically wrote about Sidney Poitier cheating her in their love affair. Diahann Carroll (not Diane Carroll) wrote about her love affair with Poitier in her new autobiography. Poitier promised to marry Carroll in their 1959 romance. Then one day, Poitier locked Carroll out of his NY apartment. Their affair had ended.

Diahann Carroll’s book is “The Legs Are The Last To Go.” Carroll wrote that she separated from her husband, Monte Kay, to be free to marry Poitier. Then she learnt the terrible truth. Sidney Poitier refused to leave his first wife, Juanita Poitier. Carroll and Poitier reconciled in 1960 but Poitier still could not leave Juanita. It was a third time that Poitier refused to leave his first wife. Then, Carroll split from Poitier for good. Later on, Poitier did leave Juanita. By then, Carroll had moved on in her life. Carroll maintained that she and Poitier are now friends. She has forgiven Poitier.

Note: Some people have confused the spelling of Diahann’s first name. Diane Carroll is another celebrity.
