Derek Mamoyac, 27, of Philomath, Oregon, has been rescued after 5 days on Mount Adams, of southern Washington. Mamoyac had been climbing the mountain when he suffered a broken ankle. Mamoyac tried to crawl and drag himself down Mount Adams.

When rescuers found him, Mamoyac was dehydrated and had swellings on his legs. Mamoyac went missing after he started his climb on Sun., Oct 12. When he could not report for work on Mon., his family members reported him missing and this started the intensive manhunt for Mamoyac.

Mamoyac told how he survived by eating centipedes and bugs and he drank water from creeks.
