Updated October 7 – Evi Quaid, Randy Quad’s wife, has been sued for defamation. Evi Quaid had painted a sign accusing Deputy James Davis of taking payouts.

Evi Quaid and Randy Quaid had a nasty exchange with the deputy and his men while being arrested for defrauding a hotel. Evi retaliated by painting a sign by the side of her truck that accused Davis of accepting bribes. Davis claimed that Mrs Quaid has defamed him and filed a lawsuit against her.

James Davis’ lawyer, Jason Snell, said his client has worked in law enforcement for 32 years. Davis viewed Quaid’s accusation as being seriously damaging to his reputation.

Updated – Randy Quaid has paid bail of $20 K each for Evi Quaid and himself. The Sheriff drove Quaid to a bank to withdraw money for bail.

Updated – Randy Quaid and Evi Quaid have been arrested in Marfa, Texas. They are in custody with bail set at $20 K each. Randy is Dennis Quaid’s brother.

There are warrants of arrest out for Randy Quaid & Evi Quaid. Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi Quaid, are wanted by authorities. Mr and Mrs Quaid skipped town after running up a $10 K hotel bill in Santa Barbara.

Evi Quaid and Randy Quaid face charges of defrauding the innkeeper, conspiracy to defraud and burglary. These are felony crimes.

The hotel’s name is unconfirmed but there is speculation that it is San Ysidro Ranch, where the couple stayed in June. The Quaids’ credit card had been declined but they told hotel management they were expecting a replacement card. San Ysidro Ranch allowed the celebrities to stay on good faith.

San Ysidro Ranch claimed they had exhausted all revenues of collecting their debt and were compelled to resort to the law.

Randy Quaid does not use the services of any publicist and couldn’t be located to give his side of the story.
