Dennis Rivera, of Orange County, was accused of beating his girlfriend’s 18 month old son. Dennis Rivera was charged with aggravated child abuse, false imprisonment, and domestic battery. The judge did not give bond conditions for the child abuse charge. The judge set bond at $150 K and $100 K for the false imprisonment and domestic battery charges.

Dennis Rivera allegedly hit the toddler and he fell on his head. The baby stopped breathing and could not be revived with cold water. The mother hurried to the neighbour’s house to call 911. When the sheriff’s deputies arrived, the mother told them about the abuse Dennis Rivera did to her and her baby. She had been living with him for the past 45 days. Deputies saw the baby had old injury marks around his eyes. She admitted slapping her baby before Dennis Rivera hit him. The sheriff’s office is investigating. The Department of Children and Families will then make a decision on the child’s custody if he survives. The young boy is in a critical condition in hospital.

Sandra Rivera, the mother of Dennis Rivera, was at the jail. Mrs Rivera had hoped that the judge would set bond for Dennis on all the charges but she was disappointed.
