By Therese Lisieux on March 8th, 2009Updated On Sunday, March 8 – The woman who was found dead in her own car was identified as Denise Figueroa, 22, of North Hills. Figueroa’s photo is in the video. There was a printed poster on Figueroa and an alert on her as a missing person.
Figueroa’s car was a black Nissan Altima, parked in the 11700 block of Hortense Street. Figueroa was reported missing by her mother on Feb 28.
Daniel Sanchez, the uncle of Denise Figueroa, said that they reported Figueroa missing and suspected murdered a week ago but police did not act on the case. Sanchez held a printed poster on Figueroa in his hand.
Denise Figueroa’s family suspect that a man who may have killed her is now in prison on an unrelated offense/charge. Figueroa’s family pleads for police to quickly solve this case.
The autopsy on the body of Denise Figueroa will be done Monday, March 9. If you know her, or have tips, please call the police.

KTLA-TV received a fax about a dead woman in a car trunk. An anonymous tip faxed to KTLA-TV led police to the discovery of a dead woman, found in a car, at a location described in the fax.
The fax said the woman was killed on Feb 28. The fax named a suspect and an accomplice who helped clean the car. The victim was named but police are with-holding the name pending the autopsy and notification of the victim’s kin. The car, a Nissan sedan, belonged to the dead woman. Do you know who the victim is?
Police are looking for the named suspects and the sender of the fax.
