Los Alamitos Mayor Dean Grose came under fire for emailing his African-American city volunteer, Keyanus Price, an e-card. Grose emailed an e-card that showed the White House lawn with watermelon plants. Grose’s e-card was titled “No Easter egg hunt this year.”

Los Alamitos is a city in Orange County. Los Alamitos has a population of 12000. Dean Grose was elected Mayor by 5 fellow members of the City Council. Dean Grose was elected Mayor in Dec 2008.

Keyanus Price said she was offended by the stereotyping. Price said she had been subjected to black, African-American stereotypes like chicken, water melon etc. Price claimed she was shocked the Mayor had thought of her as such. Price and Grose had served together on a community youth board. Price said she will have difficulty working with Grose again.

Grose said he emailed an apology to Price and her boss, and left a voice mail apology too. The mini saga of Grose- Price continues.
