David Schultz: Schultz’s killer, John Du Pont, had parole rejected

Schultz was training at a wrestling facility in the same compound where John du Pont lived. John Du Pont is a multi-millionaire, having a chemical business inheritance. John du Pont fatally shot David Schultz in 1996.
Police and John Du Pont had a standoff which lasted 2 days before Du Pont was arrested. At John Du Pont’s trial in 1997, the jury found him guilty of killing David Schultz but suspected he was mentally ill.
John Du Pont was sentenced to 13 – 30 years in prison. Du Pont had to stay in a mental hospital for 3 months for treatment. In November 2008, Du Pont’s lawyer appealed for his parole. John Du Pont’s parole was rejected because of the brutality of the crime and because Du Pont failed to show remorse for his crime.
