David Craig Mosher, of Merced, 29, pleaded no contest to charges of starting a wildfire. David Mosher did some target shooting near Yosemite. Mosher had fired a bullet which hit a rock and sparked flames. The fire destroyed 34,000 acres, 30 homes and cost $37 million to fight before it was controlled.

Mariposa Superior Court judge Wayne Parrish sentenced David Moscher to 3 years of summary probation and 60 hours of community service. Moscher was fined $500. Judge Wayne Parrish said he would determine the potential money owed by David Moscher for the cost of the damages accrued from the fire.
