David Dietz & Jamie Lynn Burgess: Dietz & Burgess surrendered
By Clarencia Cynrae on January 6th, 2009David Dietz, 25, and Jamie Lynn Burgess, 17, have surrendered to police. Dietz and Burgess were holding a baby, Allim David Dietz and Eva Arce-Perez, 29, Dietz’s estranged wife, hostage. Dietz started a standoff with police on Sun., Jan. 4.
On Mon., Jan. 5, at around 9:15 am, Dietz emerged from a second floor room of a motel holding is baby son in his arms as he walked out to surrender. Jamie Lynn Burgess surrendered too. Burgess is suspected of helping Dietz kidnap his wife and baby.
David Dietz and Eva Arce-Perez had a history of marital problems. Police were called to resolve disputes at least twice.
David Dietz had worked as a police officer with the Columbia police. Dietz worked as a police officer from June 2006 – October 2006. Dietz resigned in Oct. 2006 on good terms although he did not give a reason. Dietz then worked as a probation officer until Aug. 2007.
