Updated June 16 2009 - Daniel Petric was sentenced to 23 years in prison for killing his mother and wounding his father. The judge asked Petric to adresss the court but he declined.

Daniel Petric: Petric convicted of murder

Daniel Petric, 17 has been convicted of murdering his mother and wounding his father. Daniel Petric shot his parents because they objected to him playing Halo 3. Petric’s defense attorneys tried to argue that Petric’s addiction to Halo 3 made him less responsible for the killing.

The judge said Petrics made prior calculation and planning in the crime committed in Oct 2007. The judge refused to accept excuses as a defence. Prosecutors claimed Petric committed premeditated crimes because he has planned to kill his parents.
