Updated July 27 – Daniel J Bark, 23, of Toms River, New Jersey, was arrested and charged for aggravated manslaughter, death by vehicular homicide and fleeing after an accident. Bark is accused of the hit-and-run that killed Alexis Cohen.

Daniel Bark has an old 2004 DUI charge on record. Bark was driving and fleeing police when he hit Cohen. Bark had a collision with a parked car in a car park lot outside Hemingway’s, a bar. Bark was seen by a cop on a motorbike and he was ordered to stop. Bark drove off. Sometime after this and before he was caught by the police, Bark may have hit Cohen. Bark refused to take a breathalyzer test on Saturday, July 25. Bark was processed and released.

By Sunday, July 26, police had gathered enough evidence to arrest and charge Daniel Bark for Alexis Cohen’s death.

Alexis Cohen, 25, a singer who auditioned on American Idol, was found dead on a street in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.

Cohen, a singer from Allentown, Pennsylvania, had tried to gain a place to compete in American Idol on Jan 15, 2008. Cohen used the stage name Glitter Girl. Cohen re-entered AI again in 2009 for the auditions but failed to gain a place.

The cause of death for Cohen was unknown. The coroner will conduct an autopsy on Cohen’s body.

The cause of death for Alexis Cohen is injury suffered as a result of collision. Cohen had chest, head and abdominal injuries. Police said she was a victim of a hit-and-run accident.
