D’Zhana Simmons: D’Zhana Simmons double heart transplant
By Therese Lisieux on November 19th, 2008D’Zhana Simmons, 14, lived for about 4 months without a human heart. D’Zhana Simmons had a heart transplant in July but a problem caused her surgeons to remove the heart. The doctors used an artificial heart to keep Simmons alive until another heart could be found. D’Zhana Simmons gave her interview to CBS Early Show co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez.
Simmons said the machine made noises and she was bothered by the noises. Simmons’ mother, Twolla Anderson, said that the long wait of 118 days for a human heart transplant was very long and stressful. D’Zhana Simmons‘ double heart transplant worked the second time and she is now healthy.
