Cynthia Mary Roberson has been accused of being the ring leader of her sons, aged 12 and 14, and their friends. Roberson allegedly instructed the boys to commit more than 20 armed robberies and assaults. Roberson was jobless and her motive for robbery was money.

Roberson, 51, was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona. Roberson stayed in a dirty apartment with her two sons and 5 other boys whose ages ranged from 14 years to 20 years old. Roberson went out of work recently and turned to crime to support herself and her two sons.

Roberson was accused of driving the young boys to places for them to commit robberies and then providing the getaway car to escape.

Roberson has been compared to Ma Barker, who lived in 1870s – 1900s. Ma Barker led a life of crime and encouraged her sons to rob and do everything except legitimate work.
