Dr. Salyer has spent almost 5 years hoping to separate the conjoined twins, Anatasia Dogaru and Tatiana Dogaru, but as they have grown and developed, Physicians at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland have deemed surgery too risky and canceled plans in Aug. 2007. Dr. Salyer has tried to ask other medical centers to take over the case of Anatasia and Tatiana Dogaru but so far, none were willing. Read more about the complications here.
In the U.K., conjoined twins at the chest who shared one liver, had a twin die after separation surgery. Faith and Hope Williams were conjoined twins and Hope, the smaller twin baby, died after surgery. This happened recently and was reported on Wed., Dec. 3.
