The worm named Conficker C is supposed to wreck havoc on computers on April Fool’s Day. Anti-worm researchers, called the Conficker Cabal, are fighting back.

Conficker Cabal members are racing against time to find the author of Conficker C. Cabal, the good guys, will also search for damage control methods in the event if Conficker C can not be halted.

Conficker C may have infected 5 – 10 million computers. It is a sleeper agent waiting to be awakened on April 1. The resultant sabotage that may happen is anybody’s guess. Microsoft offers a bounty of $250,000 for the anti-hacker who is successful in catching the author of Conficker C.
