Cityfile, an internet website reporting from New York, has pissed off Keith Olbermann. Cityfile claimed Olbermann tried to persuade his bosses and the MSNBC executives to force Rachel Maddow and her producers into letting Ben Affleck appear on his show instead of Maddow’s show.

Cityfile claimed Olbermann went into a meltdown when he was passed over for Maddow. That was when Olbermann had to take a few days leave in April to lick his wounds. Cityfile cited an anonymous source in MSNBC for being the little bird that whispered about the internal farce.

Olbermann strongly refutes Cityfile’s gossip item. Olbermann said he took a long weekend to deal with his mother’s death and related matters subsequent to her death. Keith Olbermann continued his statement to heap scorn on those who propagated lies about the nature of his leave.

MSNBC rep Alana Russo said she was not given a chance to comment on the story before it was published.
