Chuck Knoblauch, a former Major League baseball player, attended court on Tuesday, September 29. Knoblauch was facing a charge on family violence. Knoblauch allegedly hit and choked his common-law wife, Stacey Stelmach, in their home.

The family violence offense allegedly took place last week. Stelmach said the fight broke out after she tried to remove car keys from Knoblauch because he appeared intoxicated.

Knoblauch’s lawyer said that the incident was a domestic dispute and wasn’t deserving of criminal charges. Knoblauch and Stelmach are in the midst of divorce proceedings.

The judge gave a protection order for Stelmach. Knoblauch has to stay away from Stelmach. Knoblauch also has to pay a bond of $10,000.
