Christmas Jar: What are Christmas Jars for

By Clarencia Cynrae on November 25th, 2009

What are Christmas Jars for? What’s a Christmas Jar? Jason Wright started the idea of the Christmas Jar. A Christmas Jar is a simple jar that can be used to collect spare change. A Christmas Jar is for anybody and everybody who has a heart. The idea of a Christmas Jar is to collect money to donate to someone needy.

If you are a working person or a homebody, just empty out all the loose change you can spare from your purse or wallet, at the end of each day. After your shopping trip, or office day, open your money bag and drop in some spare change into your Christmas Jar.

You can start your preparing your Christmas Jar one month before Christmas, or 2/ 3 months away from Christmas. If you’re affluent, you might be able to make 2 Christmas Jars!

Just before Christmas, take the Christmas Jar to someone who you think needs the gift. Write a note to spread the message of the Christmas Jar.

Leave the Christmas Jar anonymously for your receiver to collect it.

Donors will be blessed and receive much more than they give.

It doesn’t matter how much money your Christmas Jar collects. Its the thought that counts. Of course, we would try to collect as much money as possible for a Christmas Jar but at the end of the day, we know we have tried our best.

There has always been a traditional giving of Christmas Jars in the form of food. Preserves and food items were usually given by donors who were not so rich but had enough food to share. Jason Wright has re-used a familiar idea and called it the Christmas Jar.
