October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Christina Applegate, who had a double mastectomy, appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s Show to chat about Breast Cancer. Applegate on Oprah Winfrey Show airs Tuesday, September 30.

Christina Applegate said that she was overcome by her need to deal with the hardest decision to remove her caner stricken breasts. Applegate had no time to get emotional over it. It was only when her surgeon came in to consult with her that her floodgates opened and she cried. Christina Applegate shared the guest spotlight with Nancy Brinker. Nancy Brinker is the woman who started Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of her sister. Susan G. Komen died of breast cancer in 1980.

Christina Applegate talked about her mother who had twice battled breast cancer and twice survived the disease. Applegate said her mother was a “quiet warrior.” Christina Applegate said she suspected she would be susceptible to breast cancer because it was inherited.
