Christian Popescu, a Romanian, was arrested on Tues. Nov 25. Popescu was arrested for selling a historical monument bookmark to an undercover agent for £65,000. Christian Popescu was arrested and charged for the sale or receipt of stolen goods.

This bookmark was alleged to have belonged to Adolf Hitler. Eva Braun, his mistress, gave Hitler the gold bookmark as a consolation present after the German army surrendered at Stalingrad. This 18 K gold bookmark was one of several items stolen from an auction house in Madrid, 6 years ago. There is a photo of the Adolf Hitler bookmark at the link.
