Chris Nilan, a former pro hockey player, was arrested and charged with stealing. Nilan stole a bathing suit from a store called Lord & Taylor in South Shore Plaza, in Quincy. Nilan admitted to police he wanted to save some money by stealing.

On Thursday, Chris Nilan, 51, appeared in court. The judge dismissed the case and ordered Nilan to pay $100 for court costs. Nilan was ordered to stay away from Lord & Taylor.

Chris Nilan committed the theft on Wed, July 15 and was stopped by security. Nilan was struggling all the while until police officers reached the scene.

Nilan was with his friend, James P McGettrick, 43.McGettrick was also involved in the melee and was arrested. Nilan, McGettrick and two security guards suffered minor cuts and bruises.
