Chris Daughtry’s past has caught up with him. Before he appeared on American Idol, Daughtry performed in a band named Absent Element. After the band disbanded, Daughtry recorded and released his first professional recording. A song, “Home”, became a hit.
Absent Element was formed in 2004 and lasted until 2006. They broke up because Daughtry participated in American Idol and later toured with AI, in 2006.
The other band mates of Absent Element were bass player Ryan Andrews, drummer Scott Crawford, and guitarist Mark Perry. They claimed Home was inspired by Absent Element and was written when the band was still functioning together. Andrews, Crawford and Perry filed a lawsuit against Daughtry, to sue him for royalties, made for the song Home.
Besides Home, other songs named in the lawsuit for royalties are Breakdown, Sinking and Coinviction.
Chris Daughtry has responded to the news about the lawsuit. He claimed the 4 songs were written solely by him.
