Updated August 19 2009 – Captain Chesley Sullenberger, the plot who saved the lives of his passengers, has written his memoir. “Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters,” is by Chesley Sullenberger.

He explained his single largest motivating force. Sullenberger lost his father when the older man shotb himself in 1995. Sullenberger senior was 78 years old and had suffered from depression before he killed himself. Chesley Sullenberger said because he could not save his father, he tried harder to save others.

“Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters,” will be released in October 2009. Amazon is selling the book now.

Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger was at Washington D.C. for a low profile dinner with members of his flight crew and several passengers from Flight 1549. Sullenberger and company dined in a restaurant named "Hudson".
