US Vice President Dick Cheney cracked a sensitive joke about inbreeding. The Dick Cheney joke has mis-fired and it is now passed on as the Cheney inbreeding joke.

Cheney said that he is distantly related to Barack Obama. Cheney’s inbreeding went back to 1600s. Cheney has families dating back to 1600s on both sides. Cheney further joked that there would not be any family re-union any time soon.

Cheney added that the situation was such even though he and his family did not come from West Virginia. Cheney implied that West Virginia residents were associated with inbreeding. Or the other way around, that he was proud of his inbreeding and relations even when his family did not live in the typical state of West Virginia.

Whichever way you interpret the joke, it was a risky joke. It did not help the Republicans. What would John McCain say to defend his party?

Cheney’s inbreeding joke was used to destroy the credibility of the Republicans.
