Charles Jaynes & Jeffrey Curley: Jaynes denied new trial for Curley’s murder
By Clarencia Cynrae on May 10th, 2009Charles Jaynes, 33, was convicted of kidnapping and second degree murder of Jeffrey Curley, 10, of Cambridge, in 1997. Jaynes was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years. Jaynes applied for a new trial. This week, Middlesex Superior Court judge Hiller B Zobel denied his application for a new trial. Jaynes has to wait until he becomes eligible for parole.
Jaynes and his boyfriend Salvatore Sicari lured Jeffrey Curley into their car. Jaynes and Sicari pretended to befriend Curley. Jaynes and Sicari wanted to have sex with Curley but he refused them. Jaynes killed Curley by smothering Curley with gasoline. Jaynes performed necrophilia sex on Curley’s corpse. Curley’s body was found in a Rubbermaid container in a river in Maine.
Sicari was convicted and sentenced with life in prison for first degree murder.
Charles Jaynes and Salvatore Sicari were members of NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association. In 2000, Barbara and Robert Curley, the parents of Jeffrey Curley, tried to sue NAMBLA for encouraging the pedophile activities that they blamed for the behavior of Jaynes and Sicari.
The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) defended Jaynes and Sucari saying that the lawsuit violated their First Amendment Rights to use NAMBLA or be a member of the association. In April 2008, Barbara and Robert Curley dropped their lawsuit against the NMABLA after a judge ruled that a witness was not competent to testify.
