Updated May 20 2009 – Chace Crawford has been confirmed to play the lead protagonist in FootLoose, the remake. Zac Efron was previously offered the role but he backed out.

Chace Crawford will play the footloose male teen who wants to dance to rock and roll music in a town where those two entertainment means are taboo. There are still Christian schools whose rules stipulate their students must not engage to dancing, listening to rock music, heavy metal music etc.

Hayden Panettiere and Julianne Hough are two actresses who have been eyed for the role of the female lead in Footloose.
