Sara Jane Olson was released a year too early. Chief Deputy Secretary Scott Kernan said that there was criticism of Olson’s release. Consequently, her parole was reviewed and a mistake made in 2004 was discovered. Olson,  also known as Kathleen Soliah, was imprisoned for her role in a plot to bomb police cars in LA in 1975.

Olson was also convicted for the second degree murder of a woman in Sacramento during a bank robbery in 1975. She evaded arrest until 1999. She was discovered to be living under a different identity in Minnesota with a physician husband and 3 daughters. She was a philanthropist and had a prominent profile in her local community.
