Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has to be present in court on August 23. CBI will frame charges against him in relation to a case in 1999. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was absent in court when the CBI admitted this application to Judge A K Verma.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was supposedly ill.

CBI has recorded statements of sadhvis of Dera Sacha Sauda. These women claimed that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had sexually exploited them.

Medical records from a gynecologist, the insider, and wife of a Dera member, were held by CBI. The records showed abortions on Sadhvis in the Dera Sacha Sauda run hospital.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s defence alleged that CBI falsely implicatedthe dera chief.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is also accused of the murders of Sirsa Journalist Ram Chander Chatterpatti and Ranjeet Singh, an ex Dera manager. Both men, Ram Chander Chatterpatti and Ranjeet Singh were supposedly killed after they highlighted the Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s sexual exploitation of his followers.
