In Champaign, Illinois, Cayla Wheeler, 23, gave birth to her baby. For some reason, Cayla Wheeler then drowned her baby. The body of the newborn was hidden in the woods outside her house. Seven days later, Cayla Wheeler set fire to her marital home and burned it down.

Police became suspicious when they learnt that Cayla Wheeler was pregnant recently but had no baby alive with her. They searched the burnt rubble of her burnt property and found the dead baby about 100 yards deep in the woods. After an autopsy, it was discovered that the baby was drowned.
