Matthew McConaughey presented Carrie Underwood with the Entertainer of the year Award at the CMA on Sunday, April 5. Underwood said she was so flabbergasted at her unexpected win that she was at a loss for words. Underwood tried to crack a joke.

Underwood just referred to an anecdote McConaughey shared about George Strait’s lucky boots. McConaughey said those boots gave him luck. Underwood blurted she wanted to see those boots. That was an instant joke which Underwood later retracted as she said she was ashamed of herself for the reference.

Underwood gathered enough presence of mind to pay tribute to her current boyfriend, Ottawa Senators hockey player, Mike Fisher.
